Description

In response to climate change and aligned with the company’s future development plans, we have established a Product Carbon Footprint Policy.

Policy Objectives

Guided by our mission to “help companies and individuals leverage spectroscopy, optics, and semiconductor technologies to explore and discover the world of light and color, assisting them in creating precise, consistent, eco-friendly, and safer products,” we aim to address the environmental impact of our products and solutions throughout their lifecycle.

The ESG Sustainable Operations Strategy Management Committee is committed to reducing carbon footprints at all lifecycle stages and invites value chain partners to collaborate in achieving net-zero carbon emissions. Starting in 2024, UPRtek will conduct product carbon footprint studies using lifecycle assessment methodologies for representative products, aiming to achieve ISO 14067-1 third-party certification.

Scope of Policy

This policy applies to all company units, operations, and employees, including but not limited to product design, manufacturing, operations, and maintenance.

Policy Content

Product Carbon Footprint (ISO 14067)

We promote better and greener products while formulating targeted carbon reduction strategies to enhance product design and manufacturing processes, popularize low-carbon products, and deliver green value to customers.

 
Specific strategies include
  1. Monitoring International Trends:
    Track global carbon border tax trends and calculate product carbon footprints according to international standards, ensuring compliance with methodology and data quality requirements.
  2. Establishing a Carbon Footprint Taskforce:
    Deepen the understanding of product carbon footprints across life cycle functions and develop long-term low-carbon products.
  3. Developing a Carbon Emission Database:
    Gradually incorporate international carbon coefficient databases and require material suppliers to provide carbon emission data, continuously updating UPRtek’s material carbon emission database.
  4. Identifying Carbon Footprint Hotspots and Reduction Opportunities:
    Plan carbon footprint reduction actions through circular business models, green product design, collaboration with low-carbon material suppliers, in-plant energy-saving measures, green logistics, and waste management.

 

Short-, Mid-, and Long-Term Strategic Goals:

  • Short-term: Implement pilot projects for key products.
  • Mid-term: Independently enhance product carbon footprint capabilities, expand quantification plans, and establish mechanisms to meet customer carbon footprint requirements.
  • Long-term: Integrate all critical products into UPRtek’s carbon footprint calculation system, support low-carbon product development, and collaborate with value chain partners to accelerate carbon footprint reduction, meeting international trends, customer demands, and regulatory requirements.

Policy Effectiveness

This policy takes effect upon announcement and will be periodically reviewed and updated in response to changes in internal and external environments to ensure its validity and applicability.
